A Gorgeous Winter Microwedding at The Lighthouse Restaurant, Cleveland Point

 On a clear winter afternoon, The Lighthouse Restaurant at Cleveland Point provided a beautiful backdrop for Richard and Kerrie’s intimate microwedding. With sweeping views across Moreton Bay and a charming gazebo setting, the venue perfectly suited their vision for an elegant, classic ceremony shared with close family.

The ceremony took place in the gazebo, where sparkling bay views framed the couple beautifully. A stunning arbour dressed in flowing white draping and rich burgundy florals added romance to the fresh sea air and created a memorable focal point for their vows.

Every detail reflected timeless style. Richard looked dapper in a smart suit with a crimson tie and matching rose boutonniere, while Kerrie was elegant in a long-sleeved gown with a lace bodice and sweeping train. Kerrie’s adult daughters wore burgundy wrap dresses as bridesmaids, and Richard’s adult daughters stood proudly as groomsmaids in matching multiway gowns.

The ladies’ soft curled upstyles complemented the romantic feel of the day. Kerrie’s granddaughter made a sweet flowergirl in soft pink, while her grandsons were adorable ring bearers in little suits. The bridal party arrived in style in a white stretch limousine.

Although the guest list was small, the emotion was immense. With only their nearest and dearest present, every word and glance felt deeply personal, creating a ceremony centred on love, family, and the joy of being together.

Afterwards, the group headed across the road to Cleveland Point Recreation Reserve for photos by the water. The bay views, foreshore, and lighthouse precinct offered a stunning setting for relaxed family portraits and elegant bridal images.

While photographs were underway, the Lighthouse staff transformed the ceremony space into a dinner setting with tables, chairs, and an outdoor heater.

The sweet details were beautifully planned too, with a decadent red velvet top tier and vanilla cupcakes topped with fresh berries and swirls of frosting.

Richard and Kerrie’s winter microwedding was a lovely reminder that weddings do not need to be grand in size to feel extraordinary. With the bay sparkling behind them and treasured moments shared with children and grandchildren, their day was intimate, elegant, and timelessly romantic.

Renae & Doug’s Micro Wedding at The Lighthouse Restaurant, Cleveland A Heartfelt Union of Two Families

 Against the backdrop of Moreton Bay, in the gazebo at The Lighthouse Restaurant, Cleveland, Renae and Doug celebrated their marriage with an intimate gathering that radiated warmth, joy and togetherness. Their union went beyond the joining of two hearts; it beautifully symbolised the merging of two families.

Renae, a proud mum to two young adults, and Doug, dad to four grown children, thoughtfully included each of their children in the ceremony. Cooper, Renae’s son, escorted his mum down the aisle, setting the tone for a celebration built on family connections. Madison, Renae’s daughter, and Naomi, Doug’s daughter, stood as witnesses, signing the official marriage certificates. Doug’s son Aiden had the honour of presenting the rings, while Lily, Doug’s daughter, read a beautiful poem. Lucas, Doug’s son, poured a shotglass of gin for each attendee, symbolising the blending of their families—a unique and memorable touch.

Renae looked absolutely radiant in a white, one-shouldered fitted gown, carrying a bouquet of elegant orchids. Her shoes were navy blue with a touch of sparkle. Doug complemented her perfectly, looking dapper in a beige linen three-piece suit teamed with a navy shirt, tie and pocket square—the ultimate in relaxed sophistication.

The celebration was capped off with a special gift: Vera Wang champagne flutes, perfect for their first toast as newlyweds. Raising a glass of Veuve Clicquot, Renae and Doug marked the beginning of their shared journey, surrounded by their immediate family.

The day was a testament to love, family and new beginnings—and a reminder that sometimes, the most meaningful weddings are those filled with the people who matter most.

After the ceremony and sunset photos by the Lighthouse, the group enjoyed a private dinner reception in the transformed gazebo at the Lighthouse Restaurant.

When it comes to weddings, sometimes less truly is more. Yesterday’s couple opted for a micro wedding at the iconic Lighthouse Restaurant at Cleveland Point, choosing to share their special day with just their parents, and their adult children and partners. With a total of only ten guests, the celebration was intimate, heartfelt, and absolutely stunning.

The ceremony took place in the charming gazebo, transformed by Beautiful Illusions with a gorgeous white floral arbour. Timber chairs were adorned with elegant navy blue sashes, perfectly complementing the bay's tranquil blue waters just steps away. The setting was ideal for a small gathering, where every moment felt personal and meaningful.

After exchanging vows, the wedding party strolled to the adjacent Cleveland Point Recreation Reserve for golden hour wedding photos. The picturesque location, with its iconic lighthouse and sweeping bay views, provided the perfect backdrop for memorable family snapshots and candid moments between the newlyweds.

During the photography session, the attentive restaurant staff seamlessly reset the ceremony space for an intimate dinner reception. Tables and chairs were set out, creating a cosy dining setting where the couple and their loved ones could share toasts, laughter and a delicious meal together as the sun set over Moreton Bay. The curtained off gazebo provided privacy during a busy dinner service at the restaurant.

This micro wedding at the Lighthouse Restaurant embodied the joy of an intimate celebration: stunning views, thoughtful details, and cherished company. Wedding at The Lighthouse, Cleveland Point

 When Jo and Gert first met online, Jo was impressed by Gert’s well constructed sentences. Gert thought Jo was a hottie. After meeting up in real life, they decided that there was potential in this new connection. The more time they spent together, the surer they became.

The couple planned their spring wedding at The Lighthouse Restaurant at Cleveland. The brief for their ceremony was: casual, enjoyable, and not tedious. We managed to include the story of the couple’s meeting, and some of the funny incidents along their journey. There were plenty of references to the couple’s favourite pastime of enjoying Sunday afternoon Braai with cold beverages. And there were more than a few funny lines which delighted the guests, and had the couple laughing through the ceremony as they surprised each other with quips.

The ceremony styling was coastal, with the couple choosing the bamboo arbour with seaside décor and the colour blue. Although the skies were overcast, the rain stayed away, and the winds dropped serendipitously just as the ceremony was about to begin.

This was such a relaxed and light ceremony, perfectly reflecting this light hearted second time around couple.

David and Helen chose a modern twist on traditional wedding elements for their October wedding at the Lighthouse, Cleveland Point.

Rather than following the tradition of having bridesmaids and groomsmen, David and Helen decided to involve all of their guests in the wedding party. To achieve this, they requested that everyone attending wear shades of blue to the celebration. This creative approach meant that the wedding party included every guest, with attire ranging from pale blue and electric blue, to navy blue, as well as blue spots and blue stripes. The result was a cohesive and visually striking theme, with each guest contributing their own variation of blue to the overall look of the day.

In keeping with their desire to personalise their wedding and include each guest, Helen chose to forgo the traditional bridal bouquet. Instead, she invited each guest to bring a single flower with them to the ceremony. As guests arrived, they presented their flower to Helen, who gathered them together to form her bouquet. The resulting arrangement was eclectic and vibrant, reflecting the individuality of each guest and creating a colourful display, finished with a ribbon. This thoughtful gesture not only replaced the conventional bouquet but also symbolised the collective support and presence of everyone attending the celebration.

As an alternative to the traditional arrangement of chairs on either side of a central aisle, Helen and David opted for a more inclusive and intimate setup for their ceremony. They arranged the guest chairs in a semi-circle formation, creating a sense of unity and closeness among everyone attending. The semi-circle was positioned around a beautiful white floral arbour, which served as the focal point of the ceremony. This thoughtful arrangement was set against the stunning backdrop of the sparkling bay, adding a picturesque element to the occasion and allowing all guests to share in the special moment from a central vantage point.

David opted for a casual contemporary look, wearing a beige suit complemented by a crisp white shirt and a vibrant orange tie. This choice added a dash of personality while retaining a classic style.

Helen embraced elegance with a white Grecian-style dress. Her hair was styled in an updo, adding to the graceful aesthetic. Adding a playful and distinctive touch, Helen completed her outfit with comfortable, eye-catching orange knee-high Go Go boots worn beneath her dress. This unique footwear choice not only reflected her fun-loving spirit but also provided comfort throughout the day.

David and Helen suggested that I select the opening song for their ceremony - wow - no pressure! I chose “Daydream” by The Lovin’ Spoonful. As the gentle melody began to play, the couple walked together, hand in hand, towards the arbour, accompanied by their toddler granddaughter. This song set a warm and joyful tone for the ceremony, highlighting the relaxed and heartfelt atmosphere that David and Helen had envisioned for their special day.

Following the short and sweet ceremony, David and Helen received warm congratulations from their friends and family. Many guests added to the festive mood by bringing bubble wands, creating a festive scene as bubbles floated through the air while well-wishers surrounded the happy couple. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and cheer as everyone came together to hug and congratulate the newlyweds.

Once the initial congratulations were shared, the entire gathering moved beneath the shade of the nearby Moreton Bay Fig Tree. Here, guests assembled for group photographs, capturing the spirit of the occasion and the happiness that radiated throughout the day.

While the guests enjoyed relaxing after the ceremony, I made my way to the reception venue, the Lighthouse Restaurant, to ensure everything was ready for their arrival.

As the newlyweds entered the venue and were introduced to their friends and family, the DJ began playing “Sweet Disposition” by the Temper Trap. This signalled the start of David and Helen’s first dance as a married couple, and a special surprise choreography.

Family and friends—who had secretly learned the choreography via a video link—joined them on the dance floor in a surprise flash mob. This energetic and heartfelt performance set the perfect tone for an evening filled with celebration and dancing, making the start of the reception truly unforgettable for everyone in attendance.

David and Helen’s wedding at The Lighthouse, Cleveland, was a shining example of how couples can make their wedding day truly their own. By embracing creative elements—such as inviting guests to dress in theme, contribute individual flowers for the bouquet, and join the bridal flash mob dance—they fostered a sense of unity and personal connection. Their celebration was a testament to the magic that unfolds when a couple chooses to celebrate their love in ways that are meaningful to them, creating unforgettable experiences for everyone involved. Their wedding day was just fabulous.

Karlla and Isaac were hoping for sunshine on their wedding day, but when the skies turned grey, they were glad to have such a handy backup venue in the rotunda at the Lighthouse Restaurant at Cleveland.

The couple left all the organising in the hands of the team at Pop Up Weddings Bayside. Miss Weddings transformed the rotunda into a ceremony space, with white Americana chairs tied with pale pink bows. A white hexagon shaped arbour styled with greenery and pale pink flowers was set at the front of the ceremony space, framing the bay views.

Karlla was stunning in a white fitted lace dress, her hair and makeup were by Suzie from An Eye for Style. Grom Issac looked smart in a blue suit with silver tie and pale pink pocket sqare. The bridesmaids wore pale pink, and the groomsmen wore pale pink ties.

Celebrant Cheryl Landsberry led the ceremony, which she created with input from Karlla and Isaac. There were a few “in jokes” included, and the guests commented afterwards that the ceremony was so “them”.

Photographer Romana captured some ceremony shots while the guests were dry and under cover, then took the couple out into the park as the rain clouds lifted for some keepsake photos.

The guests blew bubbles as the newlyweds waled back down the aisle, hand in hand.

Baz first met Annette when she called for a tow truck. They agreed to meet up at a party that evening. Neither were looking for love, but there was just something that kept them coming back to each other. Before long, they couldn’t imagine life without the other, and started planning their wedding.

Baz left all the planning up to Annette, and was so proud of the beautiful event that she created. On their wedding day, he couldn’t believe all the elegant touches which Annette had organised.

Barry and his groomsmen opted for a casual look, wearing jeans, royal blue western style shirts, and black leather cowboy hats. Photographer, Romana, and I were surprised that this was our third wedding together in a week where the grooms wore jeans and cowboy hats, and Luke Combs featured in the ceremony music. Country style weddings are definitely making a comeback in Brisbane.

Annette looked lovely in a white one-shoulder lace dress.

The ceremony started with two of the biggest flower men you’ve seen tossing petals down the aisle. After the relaxed ceremony, Annette and Baz planned to party into the evening at The Lighthouse Restaurant and carry on afterwards at the local nightclubs.

With five teens/young adults between them, Emma and Craig's emphasis for their wedding day (and in fact their entire relationship) was family.

When they first met, Craig and Emma noticed that they shared common values and priorities, and were both committed to providing a healthy and happy lifestyle for their children. These ideals were continued on to their wedding plans, as they found colour coordinated outfits for their children, and asked them to stand by their side as they made their vows to each other.

Unfortunately, the wet weather on their wedding day resulted in the Plan B ceremony location, and luckily, the Lighthouse Restaurant at Cleveland has a wet weather space. Emma and Craig were able to hold their ceremony under the gazebo which adjoins the dining space, overlooking the bay at Cleveland.

As a further idea to include their children in the ceremony, Emma and Craig purchased a vase and vials of different coloured sand. In turn, each family member added a coloured sand to the vase, which will be a colourful momento of the wedding day.
