Belinda & Cory’s Breezy North Stradbroke Island Beach Wedding

 A Joyful SprinUnder the clear blue skies of a classic Queensland spring afternoon, Belinda and Cory tied the knot in a ceremony as relaxed as it was beautiful. The pair chose the sun-kissed sands of North Stradbroke Island for their special day—a location that promised breathtaking views, gentle sea breezes, and memories to last a lifetime.

The beach was the perfect canvas for Belinda and Cory’s wedding vision. With the ocean sparkling an irresistible aqua just steps away, the team from Elope Stradbroke created an intimate, elegant setup. A rustic timber arbour stood centre stage, adorned with flowing white draping and carefully arranged dried flowers, blending effortlessly with the coastal surrounds. Twenty pristine white Americana chairs awaited the couple’s closest family and friends, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for their nearest and dearest.

Belinda looked radiant in a slinky white strapless gown featuring a cheeky thigh-high split—a dress that perfectly caught the sea breeze and the carefree mood of the day. Cory’s laidback beach style was spot on, as he donned a sand-coloured suit and crisp white shirt, opting for no tie to keep things casual yet polished. Their three children matched Cory’s look, adding a sweet touch of family unity to the ceremony. They all ditched shoes in favour of a barefoot, sandy vibe.

The exchange of vows was filled with emotion and laughter, as the couple’s three kids played their own important roles in the ceremony. With only their closest family present, the atmosphere was intimate and full of love, everyone soaking in the gentle sound of the waves and the warmth of the afternoon sun. As Belinda and Cory said “I do”, the breeze caught the white drapes of the arbour and the dried flowers, creating a scene as picturesque as any wedding could hope for.

After the heartfelt ceremony, the group made their way to Amity Pavilion, where the celebration continued. The relaxed vibes carried on as the family and guests enjoyed good food, laughter and that unmistakable island feeling. Toasts were made, photos snapped, and kids played as everyone basked in the afterglow of a truly unforgettable day.

Belinda and Cory’s beach wedding was a joyful celebration of love and family, wrapped up in the natural beauty of North Stradbroke Island. From the stunning seaside ceremony to the low-key festivities at Amity Pavilion, it was the perfect start to their next chapter together—proof that sometimes, the best days are the ones spent barefoot in the sand, surrounded by those who matter most.

Beach wedding at Amity, North Stradbroke Island

 After a week of rain, Juanita and Travis were delighted that they awoke on their wedding day to clear blue skies.

I travelled by barge over to North Stradbroke Island – it was a gorgeous day on the water – calm and sparkling. The drive from the ferry terminal at Dunwich to Amity Point is only 20 minutes, so I arrived at the ceremony location with enough time to grab a quick lunch from the Amity Tavern. While I was there, I spotted a mother koala with a joey on her back in an adjacent gum tree. There’s not too many lunch locations that can boast that view!

Travis’s crew had been up early, creating an arbour driftwood on the white sand at Amity Point. It looked fantastic, and set the scene for the wedding. Singer, Matty, arrived at the beach at the same time as myself, and together, we set up our sound equipment, marvelling at the bright winter sunshine.

Soon, the guests for the wedding started arriving, kicking off their shoes at the end of the beach path and walking barefoot onto the sandy beach.

Travis took his place under the driftwood arbour, supported by his son and his nephew. The guests all gathered in close as 3pm drew near.

Juanita was delivered to site in her brother’s newly polished Landcruiser. She was preceded down the aisle by Travis’s daughters, and walked down the aisle arm-in-arm with her mum and step-dad. Matty sung Better Together, by Luke Combs, setting the tone for the wedding.

Juanita and Trav’s ceremony was relaxed, genuine, and fun, with mentions of fishing, and boating. Trav vowed to listen to Juanita’s advice, although it is, more often that not, wrong. And Juanita vowed to not complain when Trav purchased multiple fishing rods and 4WDing accessories.

The couple had plenty of laughs, and I’m sure things got pretty rowdy at their reception back at the Amity Community Hall.

The couple’s wedding day was a gathering of all those important to the couple, and a celebration of the life they have created together.

Morning beach wedding on North Stradbroke Island

 The team from Elope Brisbane travelled across to North Stradbroke Island just as the first rays of light were just lifting from the horizon. After a quick stop at the bakery for a freshly baked chocolate croissant, it was all action as we set up a white hexagonal arbour and white Americana chairs on Home Beach.

Sarah and Jamal limited their guest list to just their parents to ensure an intimate wedding experience with minimal fuss. As the morning ripened, the couple walked down to the beach, hand in hand, and took their places under the arbour.

Sarah, her dark hair curled, looked a vision in a strapless dress with applique. The 8 layers of fabric created a full train. She wore a long veil pinned in her hair. Jamal was chic and relaxed in a sand coloured suit with a white shirt. He chose to skip the tie.

The couple chose country music songs for their ceremony, “Millionaire” by Chris Stapleton, “Livin on Love” by Alan Jackson, and “Happy Anywhere” by Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani.

They opted for a short and sweet ceremony, and before too long, the couple were officially hitched.

They headed off around the coastline for some beautiful photos under the clear, blue autumn skies. They both had Akubra hats handy for photo time, which were a very cute prop.

After a lunch of calamari and chips, the Elope Brisbane team headed back to the jetty for the boat ride home. The couple and their families made their way to the Straddie Brewing Co for a celebratory lunch.

Wedding at Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island)

Rochelle and Nathan pictured an authentic, relaxed, and intimate wedding day, and contacted the team at Elope Stradbroke to make it happen for them.

With sincerity being so important to them, the couple carefully chose the words for their ceremony, and together, we created a ceremony which reflected their time together as a couple, and their plans and dreams for their future. Their vows to each other were also curated with thought and imagination.

Nathan wrote, “Rochelle, your glow is nourishing and warm, and with you, I feel infinite and full of possibility. Your love guides and steadies me.”

Rochelle included, “Nathan, you are creative, logical, have a great sense of humour – you’re a real catch. With you, I will always have everything I need.”

On the morning of their wedding day, showers were predicted, and as the Elope Stradbroke team made the trek from the barge terminal to the ceremony location, rain fell consistently onto the windscreen. Watching the Bureau of Meteorology radar intently, we made the call to delay the ceremony set up until 2pm – a last minute dash in preparation of a 3pm ceremony. As luck would have it, the clouds cleared at exactly 2pm, and Steve set up the wooden arbour and placed out white chairs for guests. The arbour was styled with draping in white and neutral peach, with colourful florals added. The rolling ocean provided an epic backdrop for the setting.

Nathan and Rochelle, always a little innovative, chose to walk in to the ceremony space together, hand in hand. They chose “A Thousand Years” by The Piano Guys as their entrance song.

The couple chose to incorporate a number of personal touches in their ceremony. To open the ceremony, friend and Nunukul woman, Renee, Welcomed guests to the land. Rochelle’s brother, his baby daughter balanced on his hip, read the poem, “To Love is not to Possess”. The couple also passed their wedding rings around so that each guest could hold the wedding rings, making a wish or prayer for the couple. And incorporating Nathan’s Italian heritage, “That’s Amore” by Dean Martin, was played during the signing of the certificates. The couple honoured their grandmothers by asking them to witness their marriage and sign as such on the official marriage certificates.

After the tossing of (biodegradable) confetti, the couple celebrated with their families, before gathering for some photos which will be a reminder of their beautiful day. The couple were even joined by a kangaroo as dusk drew over the ocean.

2024 - that's a wrap!

Yesterday's casual beach wedding on Straddie was my last wedding for 2024. Thank you all for a wonderful year.

I'm taking today off, and tomorrow starts the planning stage for 2025 weddings - I've got some delightful couples, gorgeous venues, and talented wedding specialists to work with. Bring it on!
