Married on North Stradbroke Island

Harmony and Dalton dreamt of a relaxed island wedding and contacted the team at Elope Brisbane to collate a team of wedding professionals for their day.

Harmony's vision was to create a boho vibe, with sand/tan colours, bare feet, and proteas. They invited only their immediate families, who were thrilled with the chance to have a couple of days away together on beautiful Straddie.
Steve from Kandid Kombi transported Harmony to the beachfront. She looked gorgeous in a simple knit dress with a baby's breath flower crown. Dalton was relaxed in a white shirt with navy shorts.
On Straddie, there's no need for formalities - or shoes!
Harmony's dad walked her down the path to the beach, and Harmony and Dalton asked their mums to be their witnesses, which was a poignant touch. Their 2 small boys presented the wedding rings.
The ceremony styling was by Mel from Miss Weddings, pics were snapped by Romana Saeheng Photography and Graphic Design, Dan Hodgson Freelance created a video story, celebrant Cheryl Landsberry - Marriage Celebrant made the legals all so simple, and Cakes by Simone baked a white chocolate and coconut mud cake.
What a chilled way to be married!
We love an excuse to get to Straddie for the day, so contact the team at Elope Brisbane to make your Straddie wedding happen.

Wedding at Summergrove Estate

Holly and Michael have been living in London for the last few years, so they wanted to return home and celebrate their wedding in style with all their Queensland family and friends. And their wedding day (well wedding weekend really) was a great opportunity for their UK friends to see and experience a little of the local countryside.

With spreadsheets and timelines all aligning, the wedding guests stayed in coastal Kingscliff and were coached in to the breathtaking wedding venue at Summergrove Estate at Carool in the Tweed Hinterland. After all the recent rains, the lawns were lush and green, and butterflies danced around the ceremony space.

Holly and her bridesmaids prepared for the big day at Zeta's Coffee - a hinterland cabin with an outlook over the hills. The six bridesmaids wore gold dresses of various styles from Shona Joy and Holly was absolutely stunning with Hollywood waves in her hair and wearing a fitted white gown.

Holly walked down the aisle to music by Dylan Pinkerton, accompanied by Michael's sister, Sarsha, singing Can't help falling in Love - the song to which Michael proposed (on Paradise Beach in Barbados #proposalgoals).

We corresponded back and forth until the ceremony was just right - still classy and special, but with a little humour and candour.

Photographs were captured by Wilde Visual (Jess was super quick to send Holly some sneak peak photos too - something to keep in mind when choosing your photographer) and videography was by Pineapple Images Wedding Photography + Film.

Holly and Michael joined their guests for cocktails at the barn and enjoyed celebrating at the reception and had the best night ever!

Guests got together for a recovery lunch at Kingscliff Hotel on the following day, rounding off an epic weekend.

Thanks for sharing your day with me.

Iranian Wedding Customs

Even though they had a modern Australian marriage ceremony, S wanted to incorporate some elements from her Iranian heritage in the wedding.

One wedding tradition from Iran is the inclusion of a Sofreh Aghd. This translates to ceremony spread. Delicacies representing a sweet love, health and good fortune are set on a low table in front of the couple. A mirror was placed on the table to reflect light into the couple's life. Sweets and spices are also arrayed on the table.
After the couple exchanged wedding rings, the bride and groom dip their pinky finger into a jar of honey and place it to their partner's lips to represent a sweet life.

Two loaves/cones of solid sugar are rubbed together over the couple's heads by their mothers, aunts, and sisters to bless them with a sweet life. I was wondering how this was going to work without the newlyweds having their hair caked with sugar, but discovered that a cloth known as a ghand is held over their heads.

Whatever your cultural background and circumstances, speak to your celebrant to include an element in your ceremony.

Wet weather wedding location

Concerned about the possibility of bad weather on your wedding day?

Look out for a venue which has a wet weather option.

The heritage rotunda at New Farm Park is both beautiful and functional, and has provided a protected location for many of Brisbane's celebrations.

Elopement at Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mount Coot-tha

J and L are shy people. They wanted a legal wedding without any fuss. The team at Elope Brisbane made their wedding happen, with photographer Romana Saeheng Photography and Graphic Design doubling as a witness for the couple.

No pics this time. Just happy memories.

Gothic Wedding

When is it OK to wear black to a wedding? When it is Halloween.

Nicola had just about given up on online dating, but John caught her eye with his profile picture. He was on stage with his bass guitar, in a mid-air jump. And her heart skipped a little beat.
Soon they started chatting, and once he realised that Nicola could hold a conversation using Slipknot song names, John asked Nicola to meet him for coffee. He arrived to pick up Nicola from her home, a plan Nicola started second guessing after panicking that he could be an axe murderer. But she opened the door to a cute guy in Vans and a band T shirt, and Speed Dealer sunnies.
But, despite not having high expectations from an online date, Nicola and John ending up talking and laughing for six solid hours. They hardly noticed the time slip by, and both felt their instant connection.
The pair were soon inseparable, feeling like they had known each other for their whole lives. Their life was a rollercoaster of late night gigs, coffee runs, inappropriate jokes, and making each other laugh so hard they had tears running down their legs.
John said that he felt like he had found his best friend. And Nicola knew there was no one else she would rather spend time with.
Nicola and John knew they wanted to be together forever, but they also knew that a traditional white wedding was just not them. Which is why they contacted the team at Elope Brisbane .
Stylist Mel from Miss Weddings created an arbour with black draping. Celebrant Cheryl Landsberry worked with the couple to design a quiet and intimate ceremony respectful of the cemetery surrounds and found a black dress with Morticia sleeves from Dangerfield. Photographer Romana Saeheng Photography and Graphic Design filtered the photos to give a sombre vibe. Roses were placed on surrounding gravesites as a mark of respect.
John's dad proudly escorted Nicola to the ceremony site to The Only Exception by Paramore. Nicola was striking in a black fitted dress with a black lace veil and a gold, Gothic crown which was actually made from cable ties! John was dashing with his hair combed down, wearing all black. Their two witnesses also dressed in top to toe black.
John promised, "I’ll always love you with all my heart -till death do us part."
Nicola's promise, "I will love you always and forever -I’m fatally yours" matched her tattoo.
This ceremony was one of the most heartfelt, sincere, and intimate ceremonies we have been involved with, and we will remember forever our time spent with John, Nicola, and their family.
