Shakaya and Aden’s Redland Bay Golf Club Wedding

Set against the beautiful lawns and gardens at Redland Bay Golf Club, high school sweethearts, Shakaya and Aden, celebrated their wedding day with a ceremony that was both relaxed and memorable. The venue is known for its beautiful outdoor wedding spaces and golf course views, making it a fitting backdrop for the couple’s wedding dreams.

One of the most delightful details of the ceremony was the live music. Musician Matty Ross sang “Still the One” as the page boys, flower girls, bridesmaids and then Shakaya, on the arm of her brother, made their way down the aisle. Having live music gave Shakaya the flexibility to time her entrance to a very specific point in the song, creating the beautiful wedding moment that she had envisioned.

The wedding party looked stunning in a modern palette of black, sage and soft green tones. The bridesmaids wore black eternity dresses, while the groomsmen were dressed in classic black suits with sage green ties. Aden stood out in a grey suit with a subtle hint of green, perfectly tying his look into the day’s colour story. Shakaya was absolutely radiant in a long white sparkly gown, finished with a floor-length veil and softly curled hair.

The styling at the ceremony brought everything together beautifully. Chairs were adorned with emerald green sashes and eucalyptus leaves, adding fresh texture and rich colour against the natural greens of the golf club surrounds. The overall effect was stunning, with every detail complementing the relaxed outdoor setting.

After the ceremony, Shakaya and Aden walked back down the aisle as newlyweds and were handed small mallets for one of the day’s most fun surprises. Instead of cutting a traditional cake, they smashed a mock wedding cake to reveal lollies hidden inside. It was a light-hearted and memorable moment that delighted guests, who then enjoyed the sweets while relaxing on the lawn at the golf club as family portraits were being taken.

Mel & Josh Tie the Knot at Redland Bay Golf Club - A Jewel-Toned Celebration Full of Heart, Laughter, and Love

Mel and Josh’s wedding was a memorable afternoon on the lawn at Redland Bay Golf Club. The colour palette was rich with jewel tones: the bridesmaids in striking emerald green, and florals in ruby red. The gents wore sharp navy suits, while Mel was radiant in her strapless white gown—classic, effortless, and every bit the star of the day.

In a modern twist, Josh and his groomsmen strolled down the aisle to GEED UP Grinspoon’s “Chemical Heart” by Bliss n Eso. They took their places under the arbour, then watched as the flowergirls skipped down the aisle, followed by the two bridesmaids. Mel made her entrance escorted by both her dad and her step dad—each named Peter, just to make things interesting. Auslan interpreter, Tanya, signed the song “Dreams” by Gabrielle with a moving interpretation.

The story of Mel and Josh’s meeting—courtesy of Plenty of Fish—naturally spun off a net full of hook, line, and sinker references. I made sure to add in just enough puns, steering clear of going overboard (boom tish!), and revelling in Josh’s love of dad jokes.
The vows were heartfelt and honest, and were the highlight of the ceremony. Mel not only made touching promises to Josh but also to his son, weaving their family together with words that resonated with everyone present. There was laughter, there were a few happy tears, and above all, there was a sense of two people affirming their life together—surrounded by those who love them.

The Auslan interpreters ensured all the guests were involved in the ceremony, and I really enjoyed working with these passionate professionals and appreciated them indulging my amateur Auslan attempts.

After the beautiful ceremony under the arbour, the couple and the bridal party zoomed off in golf carts for photos around the lush green golf course.

Here’s to Mel and Josh—may your days be as vibrant and full of heart as your wedding day.

Sunshine and Celebration: A Redland Bay Golf Club Wedding

After waking up to clouds and drizzle, the skies cleared just in time for Maddi and Michael’s afternoon wedding, flooding the lawn at Redland Bay Gofl Club with golden sunlight.
Guests turned as the bridesmaids arrived, looking lovely in dusty blue dresses. Their outfits perfectly complemented the floral arrangements in matching hues, which were created by bride, Maddi. The groomsmen wore elegant pale blue suits, while the groom stood out in a classic cream coloured suit with a cream and blue tie. All eyes were on the bride as she glided in wearing a white strapless gown and a beaming smile.
The anticipation built as the bride’s niece and nephew led the way, assisted in their task to sprinkle rose petals by their dad and uncle. After the bridesmaids walked in, Maddi made her entrance accompanied by both her mum and her dad. Musician, Kent Dustin, added to the atmosphere singing "Turning Page" by Sleeping at Last.

This Sunday afternoon wedding was the ultimate feel-good tale. The blend of the beautiful backdrop, pretty styling, adorable family moments, and joyful music created an atmosphere that will linger in the hearts of everyone present. For couples dreaming of an unforgettable celebration, this day was proof that sometimes, all you need is a little sunshine – and a lot of love.

Stormy Skies, Beautiful Vows: Leichelle and Michael’s Redland Bay Wedding

A heartwarming celebration beneath a marquee at Redland Bay Golf Club

There’s something magical about a wedding day—especially when nature decides to put on a show of its own. Leichelle and Michael’s wedding at the picturesque Redland Bay Golf Club proved that even predicted storms couldn’t dampen the spirit of love and celebration. With rain clouds gathering and forecasts less than optimistic, the decision was made to hold the ceremony under the marquee on the deck, giving the ceremony a cosy, intimate feel and keeping guests sheltered while still soaking in the stunning golf course views.

True to the couple’s wishes, the ceremony was short, sweet, classic, relaxed, and simple. There was no fuss or frills, just genuine emotion and meaningful moments. Leichelle and Michael’s focus was on cherishing the moment with their family and friends, letting their love take centre stage. The gentle sound of rain against the marquee created a soft soundtrack, making the vows all the more memorable.

Leichelle and Michael’s two young daughters took on the important role of flower girls, bringing smiles and a dose of cuteness. Their presence was a sweet reminder that this day was not just about two people, but about family, laughter, and togetherness.

The bridesmaids turned heads in floor length, fitted, one-shoulder black dresses—a stunning choice that perfectly balanced elegance with a modern edge. Their hair was styled in an sophisticated updo, adding a touch of old-school glamour. The overall look was timeless, and beautifully coordinated with the day’s relaxed vibe.

The gents brought their own sense of style to the occasion. The groomsmen wore grey trousers, crisp white shirts, and braces, creating a look that felt both relaxed and effortlessly smart. Michael, standing proudly at the front, chose grey trousers paired with a matching vest—a classic combination that suited the ceremony’s relaxed mood.

Leichelle looked breathtaking in her strapless white wedding dress, featuring a delicately beaded bodice and a flowing tulle skirt that moved beautifully with every step. Her dark hair was styled in soft waves, adding romance and a touch of drama to her overall look. She was the picture of bridal elegance—confident, graceful, and glowing with happiness.

Despite the unpredictable weather, Leichelle and Michael’s wedding at Redland Bay Golf Club was a truly joyful and memorable celebration. The sound of storms only added to the atmosphere, making the day feel intimate and special for everyone present. From the adorable flower girls to the stylish bridal party and the heartfelt vows, every detail came together to create a wedding day that will be cherished for years to come. Rain or shine, love always finds a way to make memories that last.

Two Celebrations, One Love Story: An Intimate Wedding Followed by a Joyous Reception at Redland Bay Golf Club

There are love stories that unfold quietly, cherished in the privacy of two hearts. Then there are those that bloom in the company of friends and family, celebrated with music, laughter, and cheer. But what if you could have both? Couples are embracing the idea of an intimate wedding ceremony followed by a larger reception party. This allows them to savour the sacredness of their commitment quietly, and then share the joy with their wider circle.

Reece and Carla invited just their immediate family and a couple of close friends to their intimate wedding ceremony on a Thursday afternoon at Redland Bay Golf Club overlooking the bay.

All heads turned as Reece grandly arrived at the ceremony in a fabulously shiny red truck cab, and walked down the aisle with his best man, Nick. He looked very suave in a blue jacket with light coloured trousers, a white shirt and a dusty blue tie.

Next, the couple’s daughters scattered flower petals as they walked towards the ceremony space, with big sister Evelyn catching toddler Ruby as she stumbled and rolled along the grass walkway (too cute!). Next followed Matron of Honour, Janeece, dressed in dusty blue satin. Carla looked lovely in a white lace gown, with a long veil upon her braided fair hair. She was accompanied by her dad. To remember her brothers, Carla attached their photos to her bouquet in a locket, and also reserved seats for them – a bittersweet touch.
During the ceremony, I told how the couple met on the Motorway. Carla noticed Reece, looking rugged in his beefy 4WD, wearing Pit Viper sunglasses. She gave him a little wave as they took the same exit. Reece was captivated by this cheeky little vixen, and found Carla on social media after recalling her personalised business plates. The couple prepared vows which they read to each other, then sealed their vows with a kiss. After some beautiful family photos, they celebrated with a small dinner.

But the celebrations didn’t end there. On the following day, they invited their extended family and friends from near and far to a reception party – also held at Redland Bay Golf Club. This festive event was a chance to dance, toast, and revel in the newly married glow with all the people who have supported their journey.
In the end, whether it’s an intimate exchange of vows or a full-blown party, each moment becomes a cherished chapter in your shared history. Two celebrations, one love story—and memories that will last a lifetime.

Wedding venue with a plan B for rainy days

When Sam and CJ booked their wedding a year in advance, they had no idea what the weather would be. However, they did realise the importance of choosing a venue which provided a plan B option. And even though their wedding day dawned with on/off rain showers, they were able to enjoy a beautiful wedding experience at Redland Bay Golf Club.

The couple decided on a morning wedding, with the ceremony scheduled for 11am under the arbour on the lawn of the golf club. The rain was light, but persistent, and we reluctantly made the call to hold the ceremony on the deck of the clubhouse.
The deck was already set with round tables for the reception, however, the club’s dedicated team seamlessly transitioned the sapce, ensuring that nothing could dampen the spirits of the happy couple and their guests. The rain became an unexpected backdrop, adding a touch of romance as droplets danced on the roof of the deck, and the guests looked out over the lush golf course. The couple, surrounded by their loved ones, exchanged vows with the gentle sound of rain in the background, making their special day even more memorable.

The rain reminded the couple of their first weekend away, where a tropical storm drenched the couple and their overnight bags. They looked at each other and laughed, knowing that nothing could ruin their experience, so long as they were together.
Congratulations to Sam and CJ - just remember the saying that a wet knot is harder to untie!

Kid Friendly Wedding at Redland Bay Golf Club

Kid-Friendly Wedding at Redland Bay Golf Club

Weddings bring family and friends together, creating memories that last a lifetime. But what happens when you have a three year old and a one year old and all your friends have littlies? Cahlisha and Travis planned their kid-friendly wedding day at Redland Bay Golf Club to ensure their guests of all ages had a fabulous day.
The wedding theme was “colourful” which was reflected in the bright coloured flowers and décor. Cahlisha and her attendants arrived at the Golf Club in a bright orange retro Kombi Van.
Cahlisha invited her niece, Rarni, to be flowergirl, and she looked super pretty with her hair up in a bun, wearing a dusty rose full length dress. Keeping it in the family, next to walk down the aisle was Travis’s sister, Nikita, as Maid of Honour, also wearing a full length gown in dusty rose. She carried the couple’s youngest son, Jaxon, who spent the ceremony being cradled by best man, Michael (Travis’ brother). Cahlisha walked down the aisle in a beautiful ivory lace gown with a blush underlay, accompanied by her eldest son, Izzak, who cutely carried a security case protecting the wedding rings. For comfort, Cahlisha wore white and rose pink Converse’s – handy when you need to chase toddlers!

The wedding ceremony was kept short to ensure the youngsters didn’t run short of patience. When Cahlisha read the first draft of the ceremony I wrote for them, she wrote, “it’s absolutely perfect, thank you!”. Travis and Cahlisha also added some beautiful vows to each other.
For their reception, also held at Redland Bay Golf Club, the stylists tied bright yellow sashes to the chairs for a pop of colour. The couple named their tables after Pokemon characters, and provided high chairs and activity packs for their youngest guests.
By making their wedding kid-friendly, Cahlisha and Travis ensured that parents relaxed and enjoyed the celebrations without worrying about their little ones. The children brought lots of energy and excitement to the celebration, creating a fun and memorable event.
