Wedding at Cleveland Point The Lighthouse

With a newborn baby in the family, Annaliese and Tom didn’t have a lot of spare time to organise a wedding. They tasked the award winning team from Pop Up Weddings Bayside with organising their entire wedding for them.

Their wedding day dawned a beautiful winter day, with the sun shining and a light breeze. With careful planning, high tide coincided with the ceremony time, and Moreton Bay was sparkling.

Steve set up a white hexagonal arbour and added the floral arrangement of green foliage and white flowers. A jute mat was set out to mark the ceremony space. White Americana chairs were set up for the guests.

Our groom, Tom, arrived at Cleveland Point, carrying the couple’s baby daughter, who snuggled into his chest. Tom looked very dapper in a suit and tie. The guests started to arrive and greeted Tom with hugs and well wishes.

Bride, Annaliese, arrived at the destination in a pale lemon convertible car. She stepped out on the arm of her dad, Andy, and followed flowergirl Evelyn down the aisle to “The Good Ones” by Gabby Barrett. And I think everyone who has ever met Tom would agree that he is definitely one of the Good Ones.

Annaliese looked breathtaking with her hair curled, wearing a stretch lace dress with a veil. The couple gazed at each other adoringly as Annaliese stepped up to the arbour and took Tom’s hands and held on to them tight.

The couple both wrote lovely vows to each other, promising to stand by each other’s side through anything that life throws at them.

After the ceremony, the guests tossed dried flower petals up as the couple walked back down the aisle together, ecstatic to be finally married.

The couple enjoyed some photo time by the Lighthouse as their guests made their way over the road to the gorgeous Lighthouse Restaurant, which looks out over the bay.

Wedding at Bulimba Golf Club

Sebastian and Jessica first met through mutual friends at a 21st birthday party seven years ago. When they first met, Seb noticed that Jess was contagiously bubbly – a girl who knew how to have fun. Jess noticed that Seb wasn’t interested in playing the tough guy. His heart was open, his nature was gentle and kind. From the iconic Fox Hotel at Southbank, they stumbled to the Pig and Whistle at Eagle Street, on the other side of the river, chatting as if they had known each other for years. Unfortunately, the security team decided that the evening should end at that point, and Jess and Seb lost sight of each other.

Some months later, Jess was wondering if Seb was still thinking of her. It turns out that he was, but needed some encouragement to make the first move. With the assistance of their mutual friends, the pair reunited, and picked up where they had left off, chatting easily as the hours raced by.

They planned their wedding day at Bulimba Golf Club, an unpretentious little golf club on the Brisbane River.

The couple rounded up friends and family to set out the décor in the marquee at the golf club. Finally, their spare room at home was emptied of the vases, flowers, glow sticks and candles that had been accumulating there.

Sebastian and Jessica’s ceremony was so personal, with their sweet and humorous story being the focal point. The couple looked at each other so adoringly as I told their tale, with so many of the guests commenting afterwards that they really enjoyed those adorable moments.

Thanks so much to Tram and David who referred their friends to me – it’s so beautiful to reunite with such a lovely couple. I feel like I will always share a special bond with the couples whose wedding days I’m fortunate to share.

A Family Elopement at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mount Coot-tha: An Intimate Celebration with Love, Laughter, and Little Feet

 There is a certain magic that lingers in the air when vows are exchanged surrounded not by crowds but by the quiet beauty of nature and the laughter of children. Bridget and Blaide decided on a Thursday afternoon elopement, choosing to celebrate their union in the simplest way possible—just them, together, cocooned by the gardens. This is the story of an elopement: simple, heartfelt, and unforgettable. Just the couple, their two young sons, and the lush embrace of the botanic gardens.

After having her hair curled, and make up applied, Bridget stepped into a simple, short white dress, and cute white heels with a white bow. Blaide and the two boys dressed in chinos . There was no frantic rush, no flurry of bridesmaids or groomsmen. Only a sense of calm excitement as the couple dressed side by side, helping their sons into tiny outfits, their laughter filling the house with joy.

The smallest details became acts of love—a smoothed collar here, a shoelace tied there, a reassuring squeeze of a little hand. As they gathered their simple bouquet and ensured everyone’s shoes matched, a sense of adventure shimmered. This was not just a wedding, but a family journey—one step in a lifetime of togetherness.

The botanic gardens welcomed them with open arms, lush and alive after a night of rain. Drops of water clung to the petals and leaves, turning every surface to crystal, while the air was fragrant with the earthy sweetness of damp soil.

After meeting the team from Elope Brisbane at the front gate, the couple strolled down winding paths, past beds of wildflowers and arching fronds. Oscar darted ahead, stopping to marvel at lizards. For a moment, time itself seemed to slow, the world shrinking to the four of them and the symphony of birdsong overhead.

They found their spot—the Contemplation Platform overlooking the pond next to the Japanese Gardens. There was no altar, no aisle, just a sheltered deck cradled by greenery.

Standing in the quiet sanctuary, the couple took each other’s hands, their sons in their arms, clutching the rings carefully. The ceremony was simple—a few words, a promise, a shared laugh at the playful interruptions of small boys tugging at sleeves or pointing excitedly at a passing dragonfly.

When the rings were exchanged, their eldest son handed his father the band, beaming with the importance of the moment. The youngest, not to be left behind, insisted on holding the bouquet, waving it in the air as his parents sealed their vows with a kiss.

In these photographs, imperfections became treasures: untucked shirts, grass-stained knees, a trail of petals caught in a child’s hair -proof that love is not contained in perfection, but in reality.

Without distractions or expectations, Bridget and Blaide found room for laughter, for tears, for the wild freedom of children and the steady strength of commitment. The botanic gardens offered their blessing in the form of beauty and peace, becoming witness to vows that would echo in the hearts of all four forever.

Love, they discovered, does not need an audience. Sometimes, it needs only a patch of sunlight, two small hands in yours, and the courage to say yes to this moment, this life, this family.

Morning beach wedding on North Stradbroke Island

 The team from Elope Brisbane travelled across to North Stradbroke Island just as the first rays of light were just lifting from the horizon. After a quick stop at the bakery for a freshly baked chocolate croissant, it was all action as we set up a white hexagonal arbour and white Americana chairs on Home Beach.

Sarah and Jamal limited their guest list to just their parents to ensure an intimate wedding experience with minimal fuss. As the morning ripened, the couple walked down to the beach, hand in hand, and took their places under the arbour.

Sarah, her dark hair curled, looked a vision in a strapless dress with applique. The 8 layers of fabric created a full train. She wore a long veil pinned in her hair. Jamal was chic and relaxed in a sand coloured suit with a white shirt. He chose to skip the tie.

The couple chose country music songs for their ceremony, “Millionaire” by Chris Stapleton, “Livin on Love” by Alan Jackson, and “Happy Anywhere” by Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani.

They opted for a short and sweet ceremony, and before too long, the couple were officially hitched.

They headed off around the coastline for some beautiful photos under the clear, blue autumn skies. They both had Akubra hats handy for photo time, which were a very cute prop.

After a lunch of calamari and chips, the Elope Brisbane team headed back to the jetty for the boat ride home. The couple and their families made their way to the Straddie Brewing Co for a celebratory lunch.

Two Celebrations, One Love Story: An Intimate Wedding Followed by a Joyous Reception at Redland Bay Golf Club

There are love stories that unfold quietly, cherished in the privacy of two hearts. Then there are those that bloom in the company of friends and family, celebrated with music, laughter, and cheer. But what if you could have both? Couples are embracing the idea of an intimate wedding ceremony followed by a larger reception party. This allows them to savour the sacredness of their commitment quietly, and then share the joy with their wider circle.

Reece and Carla invited just their immediate family and a couple of close friends to their intimate wedding ceremony on a Thursday afternoon at Redland Bay Golf Club overlooking the bay.

All heads turned as Reece grandly arrived at the ceremony in a fabulously shiny red truck cab, and walked down the aisle with his best man, Nick. He looked very suave in a blue jacket with light coloured trousers, a white shirt and a dusty blue tie.

Next, the couple’s daughters scattered flower petals as they walked towards the ceremony space, with big sister Evelyn catching toddler Ruby as she stumbled and rolled along the grass walkway (too cute!). Next followed Matron of Honour, Janeece, dressed in dusty blue satin. Carla looked lovely in a white lace gown, with a long veil upon her braided fair hair. She was accompanied by her dad. To remember her brothers, Carla attached their photos to her bouquet in a locket, and also reserved seats for them – a bittersweet touch.

During the ceremony, I told how the couple met on the Motorway. Carla noticed Reece, looking rugged in his beefy 4WD, wearing Pit Viper sunglasses. She gave him a little wave as they took the same exit. Reece was captivated by this cheeky little vixen, and found Carla on social media after recalling her personalised business plates. The couple prepared vows which they read to each other, then sealed their vows with a kiss. After some beautiful family photos, they celebrated with a small dinner.

But the celebrations didn’t end there. On the following day, they invited their extended family and friends from near and far to a reception party – also held at Redland Bay Golf Club. This festive event was a chance to dance, toast, and revel in the newly married glow with all the people who have supported their journey.

In the end, whether it’s an intimate exchange of vows or a full-blown party, each moment becomes a cherished chapter in your shared history. Two celebrations, one love story—and memories that will last a lifetime.
