Micro Wedding at North Stradbroke Island

Beach wedding at North Stradbroke Island

When Kris proposed at a scenic lookout at Maleny, he and Suzi started to dream about their ideal wedding. The couple decided on a beach wedding at North Stradbroke Island, and asked the team at Elope Stradbroke to curate a bespoke wedding experience for them.
Leading up to their wedding day, Suzi excitedly followed the socials of Elope Stradbroke, visually her wedding day coming to fruition.
On their wedding day, a sunny spring afternoon, dolphins were frolicking near the foreshore, and whales were spouting just further out to sea. The colours of the sky and ocean at Straddie are just spectacular, and you’d be forgiven for suspecting that the photos had a filter applied.
The team at Elope Stradbroke set up a hexagonal white wedding arbour, dressing it with white florals and green foliage. A jute rug was placed in the ceremony area, and white Americana chairs were laid out.
Kris arrived at the ceremony with his parents and sister, and pinned a white boutonniere to his dapper suit. He watched as Suzi walked towards him on the arm of her dad. Suzi wore a fitted satin off the shoulder white gown, with a long white veil pinned in her dark, wavy hair. She carried a bouquet of beautiful white flowers. Unfortunately, the breeze picked up Suzi’s veil and almost carried it off. With a laugh, Suzi decided to forgo the accessory - a funny memory from their wedding day.

The ringbearer for the ceremony was the couple’s mini Dachshund, Moose, who was adorable in a blue velvet harness, with matching lead and wedding ring case.

After the ceremony, the couple were showered with rose petals tossed up by their guests, which made for a spectacular photo. After cutting their wedding cake, the couple captured some panoramic photos at iconic Straddie locations.

Congratulations, Suzi and Kris. Thanks so much for trusting us to create your magical Straddie wedding.

Married for sixty years

Gwen and Graeme first met at Vick’s Cabaret at Strathfield. Once Gwen was of age (21 years old), they married in St Anne’s Church (built in 1826) in Ryde.

Gwen wore a white, lace, gown, with appliqued flowers and diamantes, a full skirt, and long sleeves which came to a point down. Along with her mother, Noeline, Gwen created the dress from a circular skirt and fabric from a cut out pattern for the bodice, which was purchased from a fabric store in Sydney (McCann’s?). She wore a white floral hairpiece in her hair, which attached the waist length veil. Gwen carried a bouquet of orchids which had been grown by her dad, Sid. Her hair was set at a hair salon in Ryde and she applied her own makeup.

Bridesmaids Eleanor and Dianne wore midnight blue, sleeveless, straight cut, floor length shift dresses, with long, white gloves.
Graeme wore a black suit and white shirt, with a black bow tie. In his back pocket, he carried a pair of pliers and a screw driver, as was his habit. He was attended by his brother, Ross, and friend Peter.
Ross’s car broke down, and Graeme almost wasn’t able to access his car to drive to the wedding, but luckily, they managed to move Ross’s car and Graeme arrived at the church just in time for the wedding. His mother in law, Noeline, wondered if he wasn’t going to show up.
Gwen walked down the aisle of the church on the arm of her father, Sid. The organ played for the bridal processional, and a choir of some fifteen sang during the signing of the certificates.
After the ceremony, the couple popped in to see Gwen’s grandmother, Stella, who was at the time residing in a nursing home.
The couple then travelled in Graeme’s Mini to the reception, at the highly sought after Kinnora (bookings needed to be made a year in advance). 100 guests celebrated with the couple – 50 from each side of the family. They dined on salad. The bride’s parents paid for the reception, with the groom’s parents paying for the flowers, photography and drinks.

At the end of the reception, the guests lined up to farewell the young couple. Graeme changed his bow tie to a less formal tie, and Gwen changed into a going away dress with a matching jacket and hat. This outfit would come in extremely handy for upcoming weddings of friends and cousins.

Graeme and Gwen had tried to organise a hotel for their wedding night earlier in the year, however, without wearing wedding rings, the couple had been unable to book accommodation. Instead, they travelled to a cosy caravan at Sawtell for their honeymoon.

Congratulations, Mum and Dad on sixty blissful years (21,900 days) of marriage.

Straddie boho beach wedding

Meagan and Tom decided on a bohemian style beach wedding on the beach at beautiful Point Lookout, on North Stradbroke Island. They asked the team at Elope Stradbroke to coordinate their dream wedding.

The stylists set up a bamboo arbour, with a macrame backdrop and added dried flowers in neutral colours. Serendipitously, a coconut had floated up onto the sand, and this was placed alongside the basket of dried flowers for some authentic island botany. A jute mat was set on the sand for the couple to stand on. White Americana chairs were set out for the guests. The white sands and turquoise ocean on Straddie provided the most gorgeous backdrop.

Tom arrived at the beach in a linen suit with the trouser legs rolled up. He ditched shoes in favour of bare feet. He wore a white shirt with no tie, and added a bouttoniere in white.
Meagan wore a boho lace off the shoulder gown which floated in the breeze. Her hair was braided and curled. Meagan carried a bouquet of white, native flowers.
After a short and sweet ceremony, the couple were whisked off to scenic locations around Point Lookout for a photo shoot featuring rugged cliffs, Pandanus Palms, waves, and even wallabies.

Wedding at Sure Thing Wedding Chapel, Capalaba

Wedding at Sure Thing Chapel, Capalaba

Natalie and Rhys have been together for twelve years. With two sons together, life is busy, and their plans to marry kept getting put by the wayside.
However, when Natalie saw the newly opened Sure Thing Chapel, she knew that the whole wedding planning could be stress-free.
The couple met coordinator, Romana, on site, and filled out the Notice of Intended Marriage with celebrant, Cheryl. After a couple of emails, some shopping for outfits and rings, the wedding date was set and the couple were quickly crossing dates off the calendar.
Their wedding day was unseasonably warm, and Rhys, Natalie and their guests were so glad of the cool air conditioning in the chapel. Rhys turned up early, dressed in a smart navy suit, as were his groomsmen and the two little boys.
Natalie wore her long hair curled, and arrived on the arm of her dad. She was preceded by her two sisters as bridesmaids, both wearing navy.
After a short and sweet ceremony, the couple were soon relaxed and capturing their moments on film.
Whenever I see a couple’s sneak peek photo collection, there’s one or two photos that draw my eye. In this pic, I just love the emotion on Natalie’s face, as she wipes away a teardrop. And her sister works very hard to keep emotions in check. Such a beautiful moment.
