Novotel Twin Waters Wedding

Novotel Twin Waters Pandanus Lawn

Twin Waters is just north of Maroochydore, on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. The Novotel and the Sebel are both set on this picturesque lagoon, the setting for a beautiful wedding yesterday. The childhood sweethearts celebrated after their ceremony at Lily's restaurant, which floats above the lagoon. Singer, Marty Sima, serenaded the guests as they sipped champagne and watched the setting sun. The rainy weather for their rehearsal cleared to a glorious, sunny wedding day. Contact Cheryl at ido@cherylwedding.com if you are looking for a celebrant for your Twin Waters Wedding.

Auslan Celebrant Brisbane

Hello,
I've been learning Auslan - Australian Sign Language - in order to communicate better with the Deaf Community. Last year, I completed my Cert II Auslan at Southbank TAFE, and I'm continuing with some tutoring from Green Door Auslan this year.

Although it's quite tricky to remember so many signs, and some of the are crazily similar, learning Auslan has been lots of fun. I've been teaching my family a few signs too, and it makes me wonder why Auslan isn't the language taught at our schools. Auslan has a lot less grammar than many of the spoken languages, which can have different genders for items (like German and Spanish), and different endings for past tense.

Auslan also has so many practical uses - how many times have you been at a noisy party, and wanted to ask your friend to phone a cab, or pass the dip? Ordering drinks at a bar would be so much easier in Auslan, and choosing the chicken or cheese roll on a noisy flight would leave no misunderstanding.

I'm not fluent in Auslan, but have learnt some skills to communicate better with Deaf people, and am practicing to include some sign language in marriage ceremonies to enhance the inclusion for Deaf guests.
